Third grader killed in school ceiling collapse in Barguna

A third-grader was killed and five others injured as a portion of their school ceiling collapsed on them in Barguna’s Amtali upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Mansura, 10, daughter of Nazir Hossain Talukder of the Gendamara village in the upazila.

The injured are Ruma Akhter, Sadia, Rosema, Shahin and Ismail Hossain. Three of them were admitted to the upazila health complex while rest took primary treatment, said Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge of the Amtali Police Station.

The students were attending a class at the Choto Bogi PK Government Primary School when a chunk of concrete of the roof collapsed on them around 12:30 pm, he said.

Mansura died on way to the hospital, said the officer-in-charge adding that all the injured were third-grade students.
