Police said no one had filed a complaint in the incident, which took place in Taltoli’s Choto Bogi PK Government Primary School on Saturday. Police have filed an unnatural death case with the Taltoli station.

The family refused to have an autopsy of Mansura, 10, the third-grader who was killed. She was laid to rest in her home village of Gendamara.

Locals are alleging that the incident took place because of unscrupulous contractors who built the school with low-quality material, and the negligence of Primary Education Directorate.

Barguna Deputy Commissioner Kabir Mahmud said the committee, led by ADC (Education) Mahbubul Alam, also includes Taltoli UNO, district primary education officer, LGED executive engineer and additional superintendent of police.

He said the family of the victim was given a Tk20,000 support from the government.
