A two member probe committee of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education tasked with finding the reasons behind the school building collapse in Barguna talked about the reasons for the building collapse before journalists and locals.
A five member probe committee of Barguna district administration joined the probe committee of the ministry and visited the building around 11am on Monday.
On April 6, Class III student Mansura Begum was killed and five others were injured when parts of a ceiling of in their classroom, at Choto Bogi PK Government Primary School, collapsed on the students in Barguna’s Amtali upazila.
"From a distance, the building looks fragile. I think the building was constructed with poor quality materials. After a primary investigation we think the building collapsed because of low quality work," commented Director (administration) of Directorate of Primary Education, Md. Saber Hossain, also the probe committee caller, before locals and journalists, after investigating the partially collapsed school building.
"Our government and the prime minister is really caring about children. A child dying in this place after the school's roof collapsed is very tragic for us," he added.
Deputy Secretary, Md Mahbubur Rashid, was the other member of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education probe committee
The probe committee members of Barguna district administration were Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahbub Alam, Engineer SM Kabir of the Local Government Engineering Department, the district's Primary Education Officer MM Mizanur Rahman, Taltali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dipayan Das Shuvo, and Taltali police station OC Humayan Kabir.
