The collapse occurred in the wake of two similar recent incidents in Barguna district
A portion of a classroom wall collapsed during classtime at Poratal Government Primary School, in Abhaynagar upazila, under Jessore district.
The portion of the wall above the classroom window crumbled around 12:30pm on Wednesday, but there were no casualties.
The school Principal Akhtaruzzaman Babul told Dhaka Tribune: "A part of the wall beam broke apart suddenly during an ongoing class. Luckily no students were injured."
The principal said he had previously informed the local primary education officials of the risky state of the building.
Abhaynagar upazila primary education officer Abdul Jabbar Sarder said: "Currently, 44 buildings in Abhaynagar are under construction. We will have a meeting with all school principles tomorrow [Thursday], where we will identify the high-to-medium risky school buildings."
In Barguna, a portion of a primary school's ceiling collapsed in the district's Amtali upazila, killing a 10-year-old girl and injuring five others, on Saturday. Three days later, the ceiling of another school in Sadar upazila of the same district collapsed; this time, no one died, but students narrowly escaped injuries.
