The Fire Service confirmed the incident
The Fire Service and Civil Defence has recovered three bodies near the Port of Mongla in Bagerhat.
Out of the three bodies, one individual was discovered with bound hands and feet, plus a slit throat. The identity of the body has not yet been ascertained.
The other two were missing labourers from a lighter ship-sinking incident. They are Shah Alom and Jewel.
They were missing for 37 hours. Their bodies were recovered around 10am on Thursday.
Bagerhat Fire Service Assistant Director Masud Sardar confirmed the incident and said: “We are going to bring the bodies to Mongla from Harbaria.”
Last Tuesday around 9pm, during a storm, a lighter and a launch sank near the Port of Mongla. Four labourers went missing in that incident. On Wednesday morning, one of them was found alive.
