Update : 16 Apr 2019, 10:08 AM

A building of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa and a road are to be constructed in the name of Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

Feni Awami League General Secretary Nizam Uddin Hazari announced this at a program on Monday.

The program was arranged at the Feni Shaheed Minar by a volunteer organization named “Amra Kojon Shecchashebok.”

Nizam said: “We will construct a building of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa and a road in Nusrat’s name.”

He also urged the people of Feni to remain vigilant in protesting the brutal incident that took Nusrat’s life.

Feni Awami League President Abdur Rahman Bikom and Feni Municipality Councilor Lutfar Rahman Khokon Hazari were present at the event, among others.

Nusrat, who was an Alim examinee, suffered 80% burns when she was set on fire by four unknown burqa-clad assailants.

The assailants, who were allegedly followers of the now-suspended madrasa principal Sirajuddaula, took Nusrat to the roof of the institution and set her on fire on April 6.

She was attacked for refusing to withdraw a case her family filed last month against Sirajuddaula for sexually harassing and assaulting her.

After she was set on fire, her family filed another case against eight people—including Sirajuddaula—on April 8.

The 18-year-old girl died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10 after five days in treatment.
