A pregnant woman from Tangail was forced to give birth on the road, after she stormed out of a hospital finding no medical staff available.
On Thursday, at dawn, Fulmoti, a 23-year-old pregnant woman from Panchtikori of Ghatail upazila, Tangail, went to the 50-bed Upazila Health Complex at Bhuiyapur to have her child delivered.
Her family did not find any doctor or nurses at the hospital, and had to look for alternative places.
Soon after leaving the hospital, she gave birth on the road, at barely 300 feet from the upazila health complex.
Dr Taufiq Elahi, resident medical officer at the upazila health complex, said he had heard of the incident.
Bhuiyapur Hospital authorities confirmed, a pregnant woman did arrive at their facility but left without telling anyone.
The condition of the mother and newborn remain unknown.
