A Bangladeshi shepherd has been killed by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Bangladesh-India border in Chapainawabganj.

The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday in the Shibganj upazila’s Masudpur border area.

The deceased is Bisharat Ali Bishu, 23. He was a resident of the Tarapur Morolpara area of Shibganj upazila.

Locals said a group of Bangladeshis crossed the Masudpur border during early hours of Saturday. When they entered India, BSF shot at them from the Shobhapur BSF camp. A bullet hit Bishu on the back, gravely injuring him.

His associates carried him back to Bangladesh. Bishu died near the 168 international border pillar area. After his passing, his associates left his body and ran away.

The locals found his body in a paddy field and called the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB).

Lt Col Sajjad Sarwar, commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh 53 Battalion, said: “We have heard of a body being discovered in the rice field.”

Local ward member Samir Ali also confirmed the incident.
