2 Sarbahara Party men killed in Bogra 'gunfight'

The incident occurred in Sherpur upazila's Bhabanipur area

Two members of the outlawed Sarbahara Party have been killed in a reported gunfight between two factions of the party in Bogra. 

The incident occurred in Sherpur upazila's Bhabanipur area around 1:15am on Saturday.

The deceased are Liton Sarker and Afsar.

Sanatan Chakrabarti, additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Bogra Sadar circle, confirmed the matter Saturday morning. 

He said: "Acting on a tip-off about a possible gunfight between two groups of the Sarbahara Party, a team from Sherpur police station conducted a drive in Bhabanipur area around 1am and found two people lying on the ground with critical injuries. A foreign pistol, one shooter gun, six rounds of bullets, two machetes, and three posters were also seized from the spot."

"During initial interrogation, the injured men identified themselves as Liton Sarker and Afsar. They were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital where the on-duty physician declared them dead on arrival." 

The police official added: "The bodies have been are kept in hospital morgue. Details of their identities are yet to be ascertained."
