A man of Bangladeshi origin died after being shot by unidentified assailants in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on Tuesday.
The victim, Shahjahan Saju, 47, from Nangalcot upazila of Comilla district, was a businessman in the eastern South African city.
According to his son, Md Manik, Shahjahan owned a shop in Port Elizabeth and traded in food items.
On Tuesday, around 2pm (BST), as he was returning home after closing his shop, some unidentified armed men shot at him indiscriminately.
Locals rescued the injured shopkeeper and took him to nearby Mercantile Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. Police later collected the body for autopsy.
The victim’s family members are horrified at his tragic death and are preparing to bring his body back home.
