Crew honoured for foiling Biman hijack attempt

On February 24, a young man named Polash Ahmed used a toy gun to try and hijack a Dubai-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dhaka via Chittagong

National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines has honoured the pilot, co-pilot, and cabin crew of the aircraft that faced a hijack attempt on February 24 in Chittagong.

Biman also awarded two of its IT officials for their contribution in dousing a fire at Biman head office's data centre.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and CEO Captain Farhat Hassan Jamil handed over appreciation letters and crests to nine staff members at a event on Sunday at its head office in Dhaka.

The honourees include Captain Md Golam Shafi, First Officer Muntassir Mahboob, and five crew members of Biman’s Flight BG-147.

On February 24, a young man named Polash Ahmed used a toy gun to try and hijack a Dubai-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Dhaka via Chittagong.

The aircraft landed in Chittagong and the passengers and the crew were released without any incident. But the hijacker was killed when security forces raided the plane.
