CMP: Inform police before Zakat distribution

To avert any untoward incident, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has urged individuals and organizations to inform the police before distributing any kind of Zakat in the port city.

The CMP made the request through a press release issued on Tuesday.

Many organizations and individuals distribute cash money, clothes, and other items as Zakat ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

A huge number of people throng the spots of Zakat distribution and it becomes a challenge for the police to maintain law and order in the given locations. Therefore, people concerned have been requested to inform the City Special Branch of the CMP before any Zakat distribution.

On May 14 last year, 10 people were killed when they gathered to collect clothes – as a part of Zakat distribution – in front of a madrasa playground in the Satkania upazila of Chittagong.
