Two people have been killed—and six others have been injured—in a head-on collision between a truck and an autorickshaw in Lalmonirhat.
The accident occurred at the Burimari-Lamonirhat landport, near Palashi bazaar area, around 7am on Wednesday.
Following this, the police arrested the truck’s driver.
The deceased are Robiul Islam, 33—the autorickshaw driver—and Nandu Barman, 52, who hailed from Kaliganj Upazila, Lalmonirhat.
Local witnesses said the deceased and injured autorickshaw passengers had been travelling to participate in police constable recruitment exam in Lalmonirhat, when they got into the accident.
Aditmari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam told Dhaka Tribune: “Police reached the scene and recovered the bodies as soon as they got the news.
The six injured people were immediately sent to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.”
The case is still underway.
