The OC (investigation) of Sonagazi Model police station, Kamal Hossain, another suspect in the Nusrat murder case, has been transferred to Armed Police Battalion Headquarters (APBn).
Additional superintendent of Feni police (Headquarter) Rabiul Islam confirmed the news.
He said: "The transfer order of OC Kamal Hossain, sent from police headquarters, reached the Feni police station on Wednesday."
According to allegations raised against Kamal, he aided Sonagazi OC Moazzem Hossain, and filed a case over Nusrat’s death excluding the prime accused, Sirajuddaula, the principal of Nusrat’s madrasa.
He also tried to forge the signature of Nusrat's brother, Mahmudul Hasan in filing a case against four masked men, and several other unknown associates.
Furthermore, when Nusrat went to Sonagazi police station to file a case on sexual harassment, the then OC Moazzem harassed her with offensive questions, while Kamal recorded the entire exchange on video, the case document says.
Later on April 6, when Nusrat was set on fire, Kamal was directly involved in arresting, and torturing seven innocent individuals, including a madrasa student, a peon, a security guard, and a banker.
His motive was to shield the guilty party by framing the innocent individuals, according to the case details.
Regarding Kamal's transfer, Mahmudul Hasan told Dhaka Tribune: "I urge the government, and administration to take necessary action against people like him, so that no one misuses their power in the future as a policeman, and malign the department's reputation. "
Kamal was still holding his position in Sonagazi police station while his associate OC Moazzem Hossain was arrested on June 16.
