Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no 3 due to the formation of a low.

A Met office bulletin on Sunday said it is likely to intensify further, as deep convection is taking place over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, reports BSS.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

Light to moderate rain and thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Barisal and Chittagong divisions, at a few places over Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions, with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over southern part of Bangladesh.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may fall lightly over eastern part of Bangladesh, and it may rise slightly elsewhere over the country.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal through the centre of the low, and thence north-eastwards to Assam across south-eastern part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate elsewhere over North Bay.
