A Kushtia court sentenced three drug peddlers to life in prison in a case filed on charges of possessing 1kg heroin on September 15, 2017.
Kushtia District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Arup Kumar Goswami handed down the verdict in presence of the three convicts on Thursday.
The convicts are: Thandu Mandal, Mohammed Sagar and Sohel Rana.
According to the case statement, Rapid Action Battalion-12 (RAB) made a drive and recovered two packets of heroin weighing 1kg from a toolbox of a bus heading from Chaudanga to Kushtia. Later RAB filed a narcotics case accusing driver Sohel Rana, supervisor Thandu and helper Sagar with the Kushtia Model police station.
Kushtia District and Sessions Judge Court's Public Prosecutor Adv. Anup Kumar Nandi said: "The court announced the verdict after a long hearing, after which the drug peddlers were sent to jail."
