A mobile court sentenced a man to jail for sexually harassing a sixth grader in Shyampur village of Bhola Sadar upazila.
Executive Magistrate Abdul Hasanath Khan sentenced the accused, Md Shujan, 18, to one-year jail term on Sunday.
Md Shujan was sent to jail on Sunday afternoon, confirmed Bhola Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Masud Alam Siddique.
Sources said Shujan used to harass the sixth grader on her way to school. Fearing the girl's safety, her father complained to local political and administrative heads regarding the matter but to no avail.
Shujan also threatened to abduct the girl, preventing the father from sending his daughter to school. He later informed the district deputy commissioner and local media about the matter.
The district administration took actions after several local media covered the news.
