Nusrat Jahan Rafi, who was set on fire and had died from the burn injuries three months ago, has got an A in the two Alim exams she sat for from Sonagazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrasa back in April.

Her transcript has thrown her classmates, teachers and relatives into a pit of grief and remorse once again.

The results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, published yesterday, showed she got A in Quran Mazid and Hadith subjects.

However, her transcript showed F in all the other subjects as she could not sit for those exams.

The madrasa’s Principal Maulana Md Hossain said: “If Nusrat had sat for all the exams, she would have done well. Her result in those two subjects shows that she was determined even after facing such adversities.”

On April 6, the 18-year-old was set on fire on the roof of the madrasa by the then madrasa principal Sirajuddaula’s followers in broad daylight, after she refused to withdraw the sexual harassment case her family filed against him.

She died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10 — sparking nationwide outrage that led the authorities to take swift action against the perpetrators.
