The ACC arrested DIG Partha from his residence in Dhaka’s Green Road area on Sunday
A Dhaka court has sent Sylhet Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons Partha Gopal Banik to jail in a money laundering case filed against him by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Senior Special Judge's Court Judge KM Imrul Kayes passed the order on Monday, after rejecting his bail petition when police produced him before the court.
Earlier in the day, ACC Assistant Director Salauddin Ahmed filed the case against Partha with the commission’s Dhaka office.

ACC lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajol represented the state while Advocate Faruk Ahmed represented the accused.
On Sunday, the ACC arrested DIG Partha from his residence in Dhaka’s Green Road area.
He was arrested after being quizzed by the ACC, which had summoned him over graft allegations.
The arrest came after a drive conducted at his residence which resulted in the seizure of Tk80 lakh, the source of which could not be determined.
DIG Partha was allegedly involved in corruption and other irregularities while serving as DIG (Prisons) of Chittagong Range.
