The Defence Ministry observed the National Mourning Day and 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due respect and solemnity.
On the occasion, a discussion and doamahfil were organized at the conference room of the ministry with Akhtar Hossain Bhuiyan, Secretary in the chair, said a release of Inter Services Public Relations Directorate.
They highlighted the life and works of Bangabandhu and his contribution towards building the nation. A biographical documentary on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was also exhibited at the discussion.

Later, all employees and officials of the ministry offered special prayers for the eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members,who embraced martyrdom on this day.
National Mourning Day being observed
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the nation observed the 44th anniversary of his martyrdom on Thursday.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to the architect of Independence by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhaka's Dhanmondi 32 in the morning.
The day is being observed as the National Mourning Day across Bangladesh.
