Police arrested five people in Chandpur and Jhenaidah on Friday for being involved in child abduction.
Three people were arrested for being accused in a case filed for the abduction, and selling of an infant in Chandpur.
The arrested were identified as Jobeda Khatun, Mabel Mia, and Kabir Hossain, said Superintendent of Police Mujibur Rahman in a press briefing.
The child's father Anu Mia filed a case with Jamalganj police station against the three.
According to the case statement, on Tuesday, Mabel Mia, and Jobeda Khatun abducted three-year-old Rafsan Mia, from Lakshmipur village of Jamalganj upazila, and sold him to Kabir Hossain of Ramnagar village in Sadar upazila for Tk10,000.
Acting on a tip-off police conducted a drive, and rescued the child from Ramnagar village, and arrested the suspects.
BCL man arrested for abduction in Jhenaidah
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) rescued a young man, and arrested his abductors; a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist, and his accomplice in Jhenaidah.
The arrested Shamim Ahmed, and Jhenaidah Chhatra League district unit Vice-President Khaledur Rahman, are members of a kidnapping gang in Jhenaidah, said RAB 6 Company Commander Masud Alam.
Four months earlier, Alim Hossain, a member of the kidnapping gang, seduced Ashraful on Facebook via a fake account pretending as a girl.
On Wednesday, Alim invited him to Jhenaidah, and abducted him from the central bus terminal in the city.
The gang then demanded Tk500,000 ransom money from Ashraf’s family which they paid through Bkash. On information, RAB tracked the abductors to a student hostel in Beparipara area of Jhenaidah Sadar upazila, rescued the youth, and arrested the duo.
