112 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia

As many as 61,787 pilgrims have returned to Bangladesh from Saudi Arabia

At least 112 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have died of various reasons in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia so far. 

The latest bulletin of the Bangladesh Hajj Management Portal, under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, confirmed the number of deaths early Saturday. 

Among the deceased, 95 were males and 17 were females. Of the pilgrims, 100 died in Makkah, 11 in Medina, and one in Jeddah.

Meanwhile, the return flights carrying pilgrims started from August 17 and will continue till September 15.

As many as 61,787 pilgrims returned to Bangladesh from Saudi Arabia by 169 flights till Friday, the bulletin said.

Of the flights, 77 were operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines and 92 by Saudi Arabian Airlines, it said.

A total of 24,89,406 Muslim pilgrims from all over the world performed Hajj on August 10. Of them, 55.65% were men and 44.35% women.  

The number of Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims under government and private management were 126,923 this year.

The first Hajj flight of the year left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia on July 4 and the last flight was operated on August 5.
