Two cases have been filed against Kalabagan Krira Chakra Club President Shafiqul Alam Firoz with Dhanmondi police station.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) filed the cases under arms and narcotics acts around 3am on Saturday, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Latif of the police station.

"Firoz has also been handed over to police," he said. "We are now investigating the matter."

On Friday, RAB apprehended Firoz, who is also a leader of Bangladesh Krishak League. They caught him around 1:30pm, before raiding the club in search of a potential illegal casino.

They also detained four other staff of the club in the drive.

The elite force laid siege to the club since afternoon, and started the drive sometime after 7pm on Friday that ended around 7:40pm.

During the raid, they recovered 500 packs of playing cards, one foreign pistol with three bullets, and a few yaba tablets.

The move comes in the wake of a massive clampdown on gamblers that started on Wednesday.
