Girl raped in Narayanganj, another sexually harassed in Bandarban

A fourteen-year-old girl was reportedly raped by her neighbour in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj on September 26.

According to the case details, suspect Shipon, 19, is related to local influential people who delayed the complaint filing at the police station.

The girl's uncle filed the case with Araihazar police station on Monday night. 

The case statement says Shipon had been harassing the girl for a long time with inappropriate proposals. Eventually, on Sunday he abducted her to an abandoned place and raped her. Shipon's cousin Jamal helped him escape after the incident.

Even though local influential people had threatened them to keep quiet about the incident, the girl's family managed to file a case on Monday.

Araihazar police station OC Nazrul Islam said: "We are trying to arrest the accused. Necessary action will be taken following an investigation."

Teacher sexually harassed schoolgirl in Bandarban

A fifth grade schoolgirl was reportedly sexually harassed by a primary school teacher on Monday in her classroom in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.

Police arrested suspect Md Yunus, 32, of Ghumdhum Government Primary School on the same day, said Naikhongchhari police station OC Anwar Hossain.

According to the case filed by the girl's father, the girl went for a re-test exam at the school where Yunus found her alone in a classroom and groped her.

The school's headmaster couldn't be reached for comment despite repeated phone calls to him.

The suspect's uncle, Nurul Alam, said: "The allegations against Yunus are false. A group of people is conspiring against him as he is participating in the Union Parishad election for the post of member."
