Father killed for protesting daughter’s harassment in Sirajganj

The victim was identified as Abdur Rauf Abu Syed, 45, son of Korban Ali Mondol of Gandhail union of the upazila

A man was killed for protesting his daughter’s harassment at Kazipur of Sirajganj.

The victim was identified as Abdur Rauf Abu Syed, 45, son of Korban Ali Mondol of Gandhail union of the upazila.

Being informed, police recovered the body around 8:30 pm on Wednesday evening and have kept it in Kazipur police station.

Meanwhile, police have also arrested one Aminul in connection with the murder.

Talking to Dhaka Tribune, Kazipur police station officer-in-charge (OC) AKM Lutfur Rahman said: “The victim’s daughter is a first year student at Sirajganj Government University College. When she appeared for her higher secondary school examinations, Aminul was appointed as her house tutor. After enrolling for her undergraduate degree, Aminul used to harass her on her way to college. Later, the girl’s family warned Aminul several times not to disturb her.” 

“On Wednesday, Aminul and a group of his associates stopped the girl on her way to college and harassed her. Hearing the incident, Abu Syed went to the scene and protested against Aminul’s behavior. At one point, Aminul and his associated attacked Abu Syed, leaving him critically injured. Later, locals took him to Kazipur Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors pronounced him dead later in the evening.” 

OC Lutfur also said police is now looking for Aminul’s associates and the victim’s family has already filed a case in this regard.
