6 killed in road accidents in 4 districts

Six people have been killed in Rajshahi, Jhenaidah, Habiganj and Moulvibazar districts.

The accidents occurred on Saturday.

In Rajshahi, a Jubo League politician was killed in a road accident.

The deceased was identified as Kamrul[1] Islam, 25.

The incident occurred around 8am on Saturday at the Masjid area of Chokshinga village.

Arani municipality Jubo League President Kamrul Hasan Jewel confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “Kamrul was returning home with his family from his in-laws’ house when the auto-rickshaw he was travelling in hit a tree. They were taken to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH).”

Although Kamrul’s family members only sustained minor injuries, he died at the hospital around 8am on Saturday while undergoing treatment, Jewel added.

In Jhenaidah, two motorcyclists have been killed in a road accident.

The incident occurred around 11:30am on Saturday at Kushtia-Khulna highway.

Jhenaidah sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moyeed Uddin confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “Two people were going to Kaliganj from Jhenaidah on a motorcycle when they collided with a truck. One of the motorcyclists died on the spot, while the other died after being taken to the hospital.”

The deceased have not yet been identified.

In Habiganj, two people have been killed in a road accident.

The deceased were identified as Babu Miah, 32, son of Ahmed Ali and Rahmat Ali, 25, son of Moshrafa Ali from Nakhrach para of Chapainawabganj district.

One person has been injured in the incident.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Dhaka-Sylhet highway of Mowchak area of Bahubal upazila in Habiganj district.

Dhaka-Sylhet highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liakat Ali said a truck coming from Sylhet to Dhaka hit another truck, killing the driver and the helper on the spot.

The injured was identified as Shah Alam, 35, son of Abdus Salam from Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali district. He was taken to Habiganj Adhunik Zilla Sadar Hospital.

The bodies have been sent to Habiganj Adhunik Zilla Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

In Moulvibazar, a woman has been killed, and 4 others injured in[2] a road accident.

The deceased was identified as Jamrun Nessa, 60.

The incident occurred around 7:30am on Saturday at Brahmanbazar upzaila.

The injured are- Jamrun’s son Muslim Uddin, 40, daughter Asma Begum, 32, granddaughter Marzan Begum, 12, and driver Abdul Miah, 30.

Jamrun was returning home from Moulvibazar sadar hospital in a CNG which lost its control and hit a tree, killing her on the spot.

Kulaura police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Bashar said: “The injured are undergoing treatment. Of them, three have been admitted to Kulaura upazila health complex, and one of them has been admitted to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.”

The CNG driver is in critical condition, he added.

Kulaura police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Yardos Hasan said the family members want to bury the body without autopsy.
