Twelve rescued alive, 9 still missing
A fishing trawler capsized with 24 people on board, colliding with a cargo ship near St Martin's Island, killing 3.
The fishing trawler “FB Minshandhani” sank into the deep sea on Wednesday night.
Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) Director Lt Col Abdullah Ibn Zayed confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.
A press release from ISPR said, upon receiving the news, a Bangladesh Navy patrol ship, “Shomudro Joy,” went to the spot and was able to rescue 12 people alive with the help of locals.
Another navy ship “Oparojoy” went to the spot and recovered three bodies.
“Shomudro Joy” and “Oparojoy” have been working relentlessly to rescue the missing nine, the press release added.
