Two firefighting units brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts
A fire has broken out at a cotton warehouse of NR Textile Mill in Porabari area of Gazipur.
Locals and workers said the fire broke out at 6:30am on Saturday morning, just after they arrived there to start working, reports UNB.
Mamunur Rashid, deputy assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service, said the fire originated from the godown of NR Textile Mill, and later spread to the mill itself.
Two firefighting units of Joydebpur and Sreepur Fire Stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts.
The fire damaged machines, cotton, and garment scraps, Mamunur said. The exact amount of damage could not be known immediately.
The fire might have originated from an electric short-circuit, he added.
