Rifat murder: Charge framing of adult accused on Nov 28

Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Barguna District and Sessions Judge Court fixed the date after rejecting the bail prayers of accused Rabbi Akan, Md Hasan, and Mohaiminul Islam Sifat

A Barguna court on Wednesday fixed November 28 for the charge framing against 10 adult accused in the Rifat Sharif murder case.

Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Barguna District and Sessions Judge Court fixed the date after rejecting the bail prayers of accused Rabbi Akan, Md Hasan, and Mohaiminul Islam Sifat.

The court also gave permission to the other accused Rifat Faraji, Kamrul Islam Saymun, and Md Sagar to attend their examination.

The adult accused of the case are Rifat Faraji, 23, Al Kaiyum alias Rabbi Akan, 21, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, 19, Rezwan Ali Khan Hridoy alias Tiktok Hridoy, 22, Md Hasan, 19, Md Musa, 22, Ayesha Siddika Minni, 19, Rafiul Islam Rabbi, 20, Md Sagar, 19, and Kamrul Hasan Saymun, 21.

Of these 10 accused, eight people were brought in from jail and produced before the judge. Minni, currently on bail, was also present at the courtroom. The sixth accused, Md Musa, was absent as he is currently on the run.

Mojibur Haq Kislu, the plaintiff lawyer, confirmed the news and said: "The court also ordered Minni, who was granted bail by the High Court, to submit her bail bond to the Barguna District and Sessions Judge Court."

On September 1, police submitted two separate charge sheets for adults and juveniles with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court.

On November 6, Senior Judicial Magistrate Court transferred the charge sheet for the adult accused to the District and Sessions Judge Court.

On June 26, Rifat Sharif, 22, was hacked to death by criminals in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College. He was immediately taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the evening.

On June 27, Rifat's father, Dulal Sharif, filed a case with the Barguna Sadar police station on June 27, accusing 12 people.
