The tailback was created on Saturday morning
A 12-kilometre long tailback has been created on Dhaka-Tangail highway, causing immense suffering to travellers and transport workers.
The tailback was there since Saturday morning, stretching from Salla in Kalihati upazila to Rabna Bypass in Sadar upazila of Tangail.
Tangail Traffic Inspector Eshrajul Haq said the ongoing construction work on the highway in Elenga caused vehicular movement to slow.
Besides, the pressure of vehicular movement on the highway increased as the upcoming government holiday on December 16 coincides with the weekly holidays, he added.
Tangail district police and traffic police are working together to regulate the traffic, Eshrajul added.
