In Gopalganj, two women were killed on the spot and 10 others injured when a bus hit a roadside tree on Gopalganj-Tekerhat road near Bhennabari area of Sadar upazila
At least nine people were killed and 46 others injured in separate road accidents in Jessore, Gopalganj, Savar, Sylhet, Munshiganj, and Cox's Bazar.
In Jessore, Three members of a family were killed and four others injured when the car hit an electric pole and a building's wall near the town's Shaheed Mashiur Rahman street early on Saturday.
The deceased are Tonima Yasmin Piyasha, 25, Tanjila Yeasmin Easha, 28, and their sister-in-law Afroza Tabassum Tithi, 26.
The injured are Shafiqul Islam Jyoti, 28, Manizur, 3, Shahin Hossain, 23, and Hridoy, 28.
Family members said Tonima and Shafiqul, who were going to have their wedding reception ceremony on January 23, went on a drive around town with a few others in Shafiqul's car.
Jessore Kotwali police station Inspector (Investigation) Tasmim Alam said: "We have arrested Shafiqul as he confessed to driving under the influence of alcohol."
The trio died on the spot and the injured were taken to Jessore General Hospital for medical attention, Inspector Tasmim added.
In Gopalganj, two women were killed on the spot and 10 others injured when a bus hit a roadside tree on Gopalganj-Tekerhat road near Bhennabari area of Sadar upazila.
The deceased are Rubicha Begum, 45, and Shefali Bala, 50, Baulatali Highway police outpost SI Md Liakat Hossain confirmed.
In Savar, a pedestrian was killed when a bus ran him over on Dhaka-Aricha Highway near Srirampur area on Saturday.
The deceased is Imran, 12, from Srirampur village of Sutipara union.
Dhamrai police station SI Sheikh Kamrul Islam said: "Imran was taken to Enam Medical College and Hospital where the duty doctor pronounced him dead."
In Sylhet, two students were killed and two others injured when the car lost control near MC College women's hall early on Saturday.
The deceased are Nayan Das, 27, who died on the spot and Ariful Islam Rubel, who died while receiving treatment in a hospital, Shahporan police station OC Abdul Kaiyum confirmed.
In Munshiganj, A boy was killed when a sand-laden truck hit a wall which collapsed on the boy near Adariatola area in Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The deceased is Md Asif, 10, son of Md Abdul Aziz.
Munshiganj Sadar police station OC Salauddin said: "Asif was taken to Munshiganj General Hospital where the duty doctor pronounced him dead."
In Cox's Bazar, at least 30 people were injured in a bus accident when the bus driver lost control and fell in a ditch near Lomba Bridge area in Ramu upazila on Saturday.
Ramu police station OC Abul Khayer said: "The passengers on the bus were going to a picnic in Saint Martin's island from Dhaka. The injured are admitted to different hospitals in the district. 5 of the injured are in critical condition."
