garment worker was reportedly gang-raped on Sunday by six men in Ashulia's Basundhara Tek area of Savar.
Police arrested Asadul Sheikh, 32, in this regard and are on a drive to arrest the remaining five, whose identities will be revealed after an investigation.
"Police on Tuesday produced the arrestee in court, asking for a seven-day remand. However, the bench of Senior Judicial Magistrate Rajib Hasan placed him on a three-day remand," say Savar Court Inspector Mezbah Uddin
According to the case statement, the raped woman had lent Tk2000 to the manager of her rented house and when she went to his room on Sunday to collect the money, the accused Asadul along with five of his friends took her to the fourth floor of the building and brutally raped her in turn.
The perpetrators, in order to cover up the incident, warned her to leave her house as well as the locality.
"We arrested Asadul after the woman filed a complaint with Ashulia police station," said Inspector Ziaul Islam.
"We are conducting drives to arrest the rest," he added.
