3 killed in Dinajpur road accident

Three people have been killed in a road accident on Dinajpur-Birampur road in Dinajpur district.

The accident occurred as a motorcycle, carrying three people, crashed into an excavator on the road in Jolagari area of Birampur upazila of the district around 11pm on Tuesday.

The deceased are Abdul Gani, 28, Biplob Hossain, 28, and Sujon, 26. All three of them hailed from North Khalekpur village of Nawabganj upazila of the district.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Birampur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moniruzzaman said Abdul and Biplob died on the spot after the accident.

The critically injured Sujon was taken to Birampur Upazila Health Complex, where he succumbed to his injuries, he added.

Recently, construction work to expand the Dinajpur-Ghoraghat road has been underway. Therefore, several excavators are being used to dig up soil on both sides of the road.

The driver of the motorcycle lost control of his bike and crashed into one of these excavators.
