Police arrested six Indian nationals with 64kg of ilish from Lal Mia Supermarket near the Benapole police station on Friday evening.
The arrestees identified as Shantanu Das, Biplob Biswas, Tarek Haldar, 28, Dibendu Sarkar, 28, Mithun Biswas, and Bikash Roy, 32, are residents of Bangaon city in North 24 Parganas district.
Benapole Port police station Officer-In-Charge (OC) Mamun Khan said acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive in the border area and arrested the Indians while smuggling the fish to their country.
A case will be filed in this connection, the OC added.
