UP member found dead in Habiganj: Police recovered the dead body of a UP member from a pond in Pukra village of Baniachong upazila on Tuesday. The deceased Arun Das was a member of Pukra Union Parishad(UP) of the upazila. Habiganj Superintendent of Police(SP) Muhammed Ullah said: " Being informed, police reached the scene . We are investigating the matter and trying to arrest those responsible for the killing."

Three jailed for life for killing businessperson: A Kushtia court on Tuesday sentenced three people to life term imprisonment and fined them Tk 50,000 each for killing a businessman in 2015. The convicts Robiul Islam(fugitive), Golam Sarwar and Anisuzzaman are from Jhenaidah district. District and Session C Judge Arup Kumar Goswami delivered the verdict. The trio killed Hobil Bepari, who hailed from Jamalpur district, near Kushtia Islamic University area on October 15, 2015.

Man found dead in Tangail: Police recovered the hanging body of a man from his in-laws' house in Rajapur Char village of Bhuapur upazila on Tuesday. The deceased was Jahangir, 38. Bhuapur police station OC Rashidul Islam said: "On being informed, we recovered the body and sent it to Tangail General Hospital for autopsy. An Unnatural Death case was filed.

Six robbers arrested in Madaripur: Police arrested six members of an inter-district robber gang on Dhaka-Barisal Highway in the district. The arrestees Sharif , Sohag, Jahid and Nayon hail from Munshiganj district while the remaining two, Yasin Miah and Rubel Sheikh hail from Dhaka. Madaripur Additional Superintendent of Police Uttam Prasad disclosed the information at a press briefing on Tuesday.

"Sagar-Runi murder case will be solved soon': The sensational Sagar-Runi murder case will be solved soon, said Dr Javed Patwary, Inspector General of Police (IGP). The IGP was speaking while inaugurating the Officers' Mess of Barguna police in the district on Tuesday. "Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) is now investigating the murder. They are regularly submitting progress reports on the murder case to the court." he added. The journalist couple Sagar-Runi were brutally killed in their own home in Dhaka eight years ago.

Man to die for killing wife in Jhenaidah: A Jhenaidah court on Tuesday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in 2012. The convict Didar Laskar is on the run. Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Alim Al Raji delivered the verdict. Didar Laskar strangled his wife Shila Khatun to death for dowry in Raj Nagar village of Shailkupa upazila of the district on September 28, 2012. Later, Hasina Begum, the mother of the deceased, filed a case, according to the case statement.
