Ex BCL leader commits suicide in Barisal: A female Bangladesh Chhatra League(BCL) leader reportedly committed suicide hanging herself from the ceiling of her room on Oxford Mission Road in the city on Tuesday. The deceased, Hena Akhtar,30, wife of Niaz Morshed Shami, was the leader of the Government Brojo Mohon (BM) College BCL unit. Barisal Kotwali police station OC Nurul Islam said: "The body was sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy and we are investigating the matter."

Man detained supplying drugs in Natore court: Police on Tuesday detained a man while he was supplying cannabis and yaba to an accused in the courtroom of Senior Judicial Magistrate Tanjim Alom Tabassum. The arrestee, Jony Sheikh, lives in the Kandibhita area in the city. Court Inspector Aminur Rahman said: "We recovered 12 yaba pills and a packet of cannabis from Jony while he was supplying the drugs to Sajib, an accused in two cases filed under the Arms Control Act and the Narcotics Control Act. We have also filed a case against Jony Sheikh."

Miscreants damage UP member's eyes in Bagerhat: A group of unidentified miscreants reportedly damaged both eyes of a Union Parishad (UP) member over a land dispute in Morrelganj upazila on Tuesday. The victim, Nazmul Hasan Rana,42, a Baroikhali Union Parishad (UP) member of the upazila, is now undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital. Morrelganj police station OC KM Azizul Islam said: "The incident might have happened as a sequel to previous enmity over a water body and woman related issues. We have already identified the criminals and are conducting drives to arrest them."

Man to die for killing mother in Kushtia: A Kushtia court on Tuesday sentenced Jewel Rana to death for killing his mother over a land dispute in 2018. District and Sessions Judge Arup Kumar Goshwami delivered the verdict. Jewel hacked his mother Banera Khatun to death over a land dispute in Aangdia village of Daulatpur upazila in the district on September 22, 2018, according to sources.

Drug dealer held in Jessore: Police arrested a drug dealer with 362 bottles of phensedyl, from Bakra village of Jhikargacha upazila on Monday. The arrested, Mostakin Billah Laltu, 34, lives in Assasuni upazila of Satkhira district. Jessore Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP)Touhidul Islam said: "A case was filed against Laltu with Jhikargacha police station under the Narcotics Control Act."

15 drug dealers, addicts arrested in Dinajpur: Police, in multiple drives, arrested 15 people in connection with selling and taking drugs in Hili of Hakimpur upazila, on Tuesday. The arrested are Kabirul, Shamim, Mohtahim, Rubel, Saddm, Bablu, Motiur, Mostafizur, Razzak, Robiul, Biplob, Sarwar, Khaleque, Sohel, and Saiful are from the area. Hakimpur police station OC Abdur Razzak said: "The arrested have been sent to Dinajpur jail on a court order."
