Man to die for killing wife in Tangail: A Tangail court on Monday sentenced a man to death and fined him Tk 10,000 for killing his wife in 2012. Tangail Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Khaleda Yasmin delivered the verdict. The convict Ashraful Islam, 28, strangled Saleha Khatun to death over dowry on August 18, 2012. The next day, Abdus Samad, father of the deceased, filed a case, said Special Public Prosecutor (PP) AKM Nasimul Akhtar Nasim.

Drug dealer held with 1,400 bottles of Phensidyl : Detective Branch (DB) of Police, in a drive, detained a drug dealer with 1,400 bottles of Phensidyl from Jaluapara village of Sadar upazila in Comilla on Monday. The detainee Md Ibrahim, 26, lives in Subarno village in the upazila. Comilla Additional Superintendent of Police(ASP) Shakhawat Hossain confirmed the news at a press briefing at his office.

Two robbers detained, three fishermen rescued in Satkhira: Bangladesh Coast Guard(BCG) rescued three kidnapped fishermen and detained three forest robbers in connection with the kidnapping from Mohontokhali Khal area in west Sundarbans area on Sunday. The detainees are Golam Molla,36 and Jalal Uddin,50 while the rescued fishermen are Babul Gazi, Shahid Hossain and Rezaul Islam, said Nazrul Islam, Petty Officer of Kaikhali Station under the BCG West Zone.

Man killed over land dispute in Panchagarh: A man was killed by his rivals over land dispute in Shingroad Dewniapara village of Sadar upazila on Monday. Robiul Hossain was critically injured after a clash between two groups ensued in the area over installing a fence on an area of land. Later, Robiul was taken to Panchagarh Sadar Modern Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead, said Panchagarh Sadar police station OC Abu Akkash Ahemed. He also added that eight people had been detained in connection with the incident.

Man found dead in Pirojpur: Police recovered the hanging body of a man from Moddho Charbolesshar village in Indurkani upazila yesterday. The deceased Abul Khan, 60, lived in Bodnibhanga village of Morrelganj upazila in Bagerhat district. Indurkani police station OC Md Habibur Rahman said: "On being informed, we recovered the body and sent it to hospital for autopsy. We are investigating the matter"

Over 8 crores’ meters current net seized in Munshiganj: The Department of Fisheries and river police, in a joint drive, seized over eight crores meters current net, worth Tk 248 crores  from 10 factories in Panchasar union under Sadar upazila on Monday. Department of Fisheries Senior Assistant Director Sunil Mandal said: We seized the current net and burned it on the banks of the Dhaleswari river. No one was detained during the raid."

Three held with 2,000 litres of  stolen fuel : Rapid Action Battalion(RAB) detained two people and seized over 2,000 litres stolen diesel from their possession from Godhnail area of Shiddhirganj upazila  in Narayanganj yesterday. The detainees are Tara Mia,35, Liton,39 and Md Hosen,34. RAB-11 Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Jasim Uddin said: "During primary interrogation, it transpired that a gang of thieves had been stealing oil from oil tankers of Meghna and Padma oil depots in the Godhnail area for some time now.  They adulterate the diesel and sell it to many businessmen. A case will be filed in Shiddhirganj police station."
