Police yesterday arrested a woman along with her 6-months-old child from Madhabdi municipality's Birampur, Narsingdi.
The arrestee, Mansura Begum, 22, took a loan of Tk1.20 lakh from a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) named "Bastob" three years ago, persuaded by her husband.
However, the couple failed to provide the instalments and Mansura's husband Jahangir Alam abandoned her with the newborn and left for Malaysia.
As Mansura later failed to provide the NGO's demand of Tk10,000 instalment per month, they filed a case against her at Dhaka's Mohammadpur police station and later police issued an arrest warrant against her.
After receiving the warrant, Madhabdi police arrested her with the newborn child and produced them before the court, police say.Madhabdi SI Sanjay Kumar said, acting on the warrant they arrested Mansura.
Inspector Salah Uddin of Narsingdi Court police said that after producing them before the court, Senior Judicial Magistrate Manisha Rai granted her a bail.
