In Narayanganj, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained four drug dealers with 47,000 yaba pills in a drive
A total of 197,000 yaba pills were seized and six drug dealers were detained in separate anti-drug drives conducted in Chittagong and Narayanganj on Saturday.
In Chittagong, the Bangladesh Coast Guard detained two drug dealers with 150,000 yaba pills from the Sangu river estuary in Anwara upazila.
The detained, identified as Jalal Uddin, 25, and Md Faruk, 26, are from the upazila, said Bangladesh Coast Guard Media Officer M Hayat Ibne Siddique.
Hayat said: "On a tipoff, a Coast Guard team conducted a drive at the Sangu river estuary around 1 am on Saturday and seized the yaba pills hidden on a boat."
"We have also detained two main yaba dealers from the scene who owned up to smuggling the yaba pills to different parts of the country," he added.
In Narayanganj, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained four drug dealers with 47,000 yaba pills in a drive, from the Rafi Filling Station area in Bandar upazila.
The detained were identified as Jamal Hossain, Tanvir Hasan, Shafiqul Islam and Jamal Uddin, said RAB-11 Captain, Lt Colonel Imran Ullah Sarkar, at a press briefing.
Imran said: "On a tipoff, a RAB 11 team took position in front of Rafi filling Station near Madanpur of Bandar upazila and detained four yaba dealers with 47,000 yaba pills and a microbus, around 2:30 am on Saturday."
"The detained owned up to smuggling yaba pills and legal action will be taken against them, '' he added.
