Six patients with Covid-19 symptoms were admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College since Saturday night
Two people with Covid-19 symptoms have died at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC) in Barisal.
Both of them passed away on Sunday, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Niru Begum, 45, resident of Puranpara area in the city and Jakir Hossain, a Patuakhali resident.
It has not been confirmed whether their samples have been collected for Covid-19 tests or not.
Of them, Niru was the first one to die at the Corona Unit of SBMC in the early hours of Sunday. Jakir reportedly died about eight hours after that.
SBMC Director Dr Md Bakir Hossain said Niru's relatives rushed her to the emergency unit around 11:45pm.
After examining her symptoms, Dr Hossain advised them to move the patient to the Corona Unit of the hospital, where she died around 12.05am.
She had been suffering from diarrhea and underwent treatment at Barisal General Hospital around three days ago.
She returned home after recovering but fell sick again with fever, throat pain, and asthma. She also had diabetes and high blood pressure, the doctor said, quoting relatives.
Niru’s relatives took her body home soon after her death.

First reported in China in December last year, the coronavirus is affecting 199 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
It has infected 665,231 people globally and killed 30,900 of them so far, with a mortality rate of 4.64 percent. 142,467 of the patients have recovered, according to Worldometer.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed 48 Covid-19 cases and five deaths. The country has tested 1,068 samples till date.
