At least three people with coronavirus symptoms have died in Dinajpur, Sherpur, and Kushtia districts.

In Kushtia, an auto rickshaw driver with Covid-19 symptoms has died at 250-bed Kushtia General Hospital.

The 40-year-old man, suffering from catarrh, cough, and fever, breathed his last on Monday morning.

Confirming the matter, Civil Surgeon HM Anoarul said: “The man was brought to the hospital in critical condition. The on-duty doctors declared the driver dead as soon as he was brought here."

The blood samples will be sent to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka to confirm whether the man died from coronavirus or not, the Civil Surgeon said. "The body of the deceased will be buried as per the directives of IEDCR."

"As precautionary measures, we have quarantined 7 staff, including two doctors,” said Taposh Kumar Sarkar, Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital.

In the meantime, Kushtia Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jobayer Hossain placed at least 10 homes around the deceased's home on lockdown.

In Dinajpur, a man with symptoms of coronavirus infection has died at his house in Birampur upazila .

The man, 40, a farm labourer by profession, returned home from Comilla 10 to 12 days back with fever and cold and died early Monday, Abdur Razzak, chairman of Jotbani Union Parishad, confirmed.

"The local administration has kept four members of his family in home quarantine," he said.

The individual worked at a Comilla house, owned by an expatriate who lived in Saudi Arabia.

Recently, the expatriate returned to his house while the district administration put all the residents of the house in home quarantine, he said.

The deceased man fled the house and returned to his home.

Afterwards, he started suffering from respiratory problems and was infected with jaundice, Razzak said.

Avoiding the health complex, he was taking treatment locally.

However, members of village police have been deployed in the locality to restrict people's movement in the particular neighbourhood, he added.

Birampur upazila health official Dr Md Solaiman Hossain Mehedi said samples have been collected from the body to determine the cause of death.

In Sherpur, a man with Covid-19 symptoms has died in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur district.

The 55-year-old worker, suffering from breathing problems, returned to his home from Rampal upazila of Bagerhat district on Thursday. He breathed his last around 10 pm on Sunday.

When contacted, Sherpur Civil Surgeon Dr AKM Anaurul Rouf said: “We have collected samples from the deceased and will send it to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka.”
