The deceased family was put under lockdown immediately after his death on Tuesday afternoon
A man died while suffering from cold and fever in his residence in Madhupur upazila of Tangail.
The 35-year-old was a small vendor working in Dhaka; he went home with the illness on Sunday. The matter was kept secret by his family. But he started having a severe case of diarrhoea on Monday, said Madhupur police station OC Tariq Kamal.
The deceased family was put under lockdown immediately after his death on Tuesday afternoon.
District Civil Surgeon Dr Wahiduzzaman said: “A team led by trained doctors of IEDCR and Madhupur Upazila Health Officer went to the deceased’s house to collect samples, which will be sent to Dhaka for tests to find out if the person was suffering from Covid-19.”
Tangail Deputy Commissioner Shahidul Islam said: “The deceased’s house has been put under lockdown. We will further investigate to put others who might’ve been exposed to him under lockdown as well.”
A committee has been formed in this regard and the deceased's body will be buried under the supervision of this committee, he added.
