The deceased’s home and the neighbouring area has been put under lockdown for the next 14 days
A teenage boy died while suffering from symptoms similar to the new coronavirus (Covid-19) in Bhandaria upazila in Pirojpur Tuesday afternoon.
The 18-year-old boy, who had just sat for the SSC exam this year, was suffering from fever, cold, cough, and sore throat for four days.
He, however, was being given treatment at home, despite doctors from the upazila health complex told his family to take him to the hospital.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Official HM Jahirul Islam said samples were collected from the boy and has been sent to Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) to verify if the boy indeed had the coronavirus.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Nazmul Alam said the deceased’s home and the neighbouring area has been put under lockdown for the next 14 days.
Bhandaria Upazila Chairman Mirazul Islam said the upazila administration will take provide the families under lockdown with food and other necessities during this period.
