People were seen returning on foot or using local transport amid the shutdown of the inter-district bus and train movement on Friday, reports a correspondent from Mymensingh.
According to the workers, garment factories are set to open again on April 5. So they were told by the administration to come to Dhaka as early as possible.
The workers also claimed that they are fearful of losing their jobs if they fail to report to their workstations, so they are returning to Dhaka amid the fear of contracting coronavirus.
Police said since Friday morning waves of people are going to Dhaka. As they couldn't find any transportation, they are going on foot.
