A man has tested positive for the new coronavirus in Bandarban, making him the first confirmed case of Covid-19 in the hill districts.
The patient is a 59-year-old male and a resident of Ghumdhum union in Naikhongchhari upazila.
Bandarban Civil Surgeon Dr Aung Swe Prue Marma confirmed the news to Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.
The man’s sample tested positive for the virus at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital on Thursday afternoon.
Necessary steps are being taken to ensure proper treatment for the patient, added the civil surgeon.
