Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner(DC) Motiul Alom Chowdhury confirmed the matter
District administration has announced that Patuakhali will be placed under lockdown until further notice, in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The decision was taken at a meeting of Covid-19 Prevention Committees on Sunday, said Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner(DC) Motiul Alom Chowdhury.
"We have taken this initiative as the coronavirus situation has worsened in the adjoining Barguna and Barisal districts," said Motiul Alom.
As per the directive, no one can leave and enter the district during lockdown and no vehicles -- except those engaged in emergency services -- will be allowed to ply in Patuakhali during the lockdown period, the DC also added.
Speaking on the matter, Patuakhali Civil Surgeon Md Jahangir Alom said: "Till Sunday, we have tested 250 samples for coronavirus. Among them, two have tested positive."
As of Sunday, Bangladesh has reported 2456 Covid-19 cases. Among them, 91 died while 75 have recovered so far.
