'OC Ranjan was reluctant to follow orders and so he was withdrawn from his duties here'
Baniachong police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ranjan Kumar Samanta has been closed for his reluctance over field duties to contain the spread of the new coronavirus in Habiganj.
Habiganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ullah confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.
He said: “Recently, a number of people returned to the district from Dhaka and Narayanganj. Police have been carrying out field duties to ensure the mandatorily 14-day quarantine to these returnees. However, OC Ranjan was reluctant to follow orders and so he was withdrawn from his duties here.
“As public servants, we are obligated to obey necessary directives during any type of nationwide crisis. We are committed to providing all kinds of services and protection to the people. Ranjan’s irresponsibility to this end is regrettable.”
