The Iftar is being offered to unemployed struggling in Covid-19 crisis
A voluntary organization in Magura town has launched an ‘Iftar at Tk1’ initiative for people struggling to manage a meal during the holy month of Ramadan.
Organizers of the program said they had been providing 100 unemployed persons an Iftar [fast breaking meal] packet from the first day of this Ramadan [the month of fasting] every day. They have been managing the initiative through a Facebook group called ‘Covid-19 Joddha’ [Covid-19] fighters.
“We took the initiative to support the labourers struggling to manage a meal in this Covid-19 crisis. We will try to operate the program in various places of the town throughout Ramadan,” said an organizer of the program, Asif Hasan Shakil, during the Iftar distribution before Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy Govt College in Magura town on Monday.
Tarik Abdullah, another of the organizers, said the initiative might need the support of affluent people to be continued and expanded.
Among other members of the organization, Mir Mahdi Hasan Rubel, Farzana Rahman, Rajib Shikdar and Tamanna Ferdous were present during the Iftar distribution.
