A man has been detained for raping a woman and sharing the video in Tangail’s Kalihati upazila.
Police detained Abdul Mannan, 45, an electrician, on Friday afternoon.
According to the victim, whose husband is an expatriate, Mannan raped her in an evening about a month ago.
“He threatened to kill my five-year-old son if I protested,” she stated.
“He shared the video of the incident and had been harassing me for some time. I could not say anything because of his threats and fearing my own dishonour. But now I am forced to take legal action and I want him to be punished,” she added.
Confirming the matter, Kalihati police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Al Mamun told Dhaka Tribune: “The video was found in Mannan’s mobile. A case is in the process of being recorded.”
