Fire breaks out at Gazipur cotton warehouse

A fire broke out a cotton warehouse of VIYELLATEX Limited in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila on Friday.

The fire originated at the warehouse around 1:45pm, confirmed Gazipur-3 Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director Abdul Alim.

He said: “Currently, seven firefighting units from Gazipur, Kaliganj, Bhaluka, Treeshal, and Mawna are working to douse the fire.”

Kamrul Hasan, administrative manager of VIYELLATEX factory-1, said: “Locals broke down the main gate of the cotton warehouse and began to douse the flame when it was first spotted in the afternoon. Later, seven units of the fire service responded to the scene. The cause of the fire could not be identified immediately. ”
